Result breakdown

Room 1
120 sq ft
Combined measured area
120 sq ft
Measured area in square yards
13.33 sq yd
Material allowance (10%)
12 sq ft
Final material area
132 sq ft

Exact calculation method

Room area (sq ft) = length (ft) × width (ft). Add the room areas, calculate the material allowance, and add it to the measured area. Boxes = final material area ÷ coverage per box. Internal calculations retain full precision. Box quantities are rounded up to the next whole box when box coverage is provided.

Worked example

Room: 10 ft × 12 ft. Measured area: 120 sq ft. Material allowance: 10%. Allowance amount: 12 sq ft. Final material area: 132 sq ft.

Measurement tips

Measure each room in feet at its widest and longest points. Split L-shaped spaces into rectangles.

Inputs and results

Enter each rectangular area, choose Imperial or Metric, and adjust the visible material allowance. Box coverage is optional and should be entered from the manufacturer's product packaging or product page. Results separate measured area, allowance, final area, and whole box quantities.

Limitations and assumptions

This area estimate does not plan board direction, seams, pattern repeats, or irregular cut geometry. Allowance depends on room shape, pattern, cuts, damage, product defects, installer recommendations, and manufacturer instructions.

Use this result for planning only. Verify measurements and order quantities with the product manufacturer or qualified installer.
